8 years ago when I was in 7th grade I had grey colored contacts. I don't know why I thought they looked good, because they most certainly did NOT.
Then in high school I had green ones for awhile and those looked perfectly natural but still nothing beats someone's true eye color :) No need to try and cover it up with a "prettier" hue.

Im with you RKJ , why should we all boo the person who wears colored contacts? I mean is it any different for those who wear makeup to cover their not so perfect skin, or wear eyeliner and eyeshadow to enhance their eyes, when girls do that it's to enhance thier looks. .I mean come on people, we have to realize that choice of wearing is upon the person who wears it. As for looking good or not, that is just like how we girls respond to one another by being catty and snide. Most of you who are trying to diss a girl cause she wears colored contacts are part of this forum where beauty plays into how others percieve you. And we all know you all care about how others see you that is why most of you want to know tricks to better yourself..although most of the problem with the way we see others and ourselves begin from inside not out.

@jtm you are absolutely right about the quality of the contacts, it really is true!

As Sadia says, maybe leaning toward a more natural color like honey brown might be better for those girls with really dark eyes.

P.S. Don't listen to what Sadia says about the color of her eyes - she has the most beautiful eyes ever!

Thanx Julie for your vote of confidence, however, believe me that color makes you look like either a challenged person or a half blind. So maybe I do have an insecurity there....Wow! LOL. Never thought about it that way.
But, here's something that came to me while reading other's posts. Colored contacts are no more than the make up one uses. Instead of using the blues, greens or other bold colors, has anyone wondered what color contact would look good on a desi? Anyone ever want to try, then try out honey brown. Not only does it do wonders for every skin color, it makes a subtle difference. Just my two cents. Hugs, Sadia

hmmmm.. lots of controversy. :) i think the problem is not so much the desire to wear the contacts as the quality of the chosen contacts. many brands available out there especially ones worn by younger girls are simply too harsh and artificial looking. i mean who has eyes like that with such sharp, unblended colors? its another thing to want to look like ashwariya (who doesnt) but must you end up looking like ca (the snake from the jungle book cartoon)! or a lizard even. ;) yuck, yuck, yuck. i mean we've all probably wondered how we would look with blue, gray, green eyes, just for a change even. nothing wrong with that but please try to buy the contacts that are flattering and natural, or go without. and please, dont try to convince us that they're real. COS WE CAN TELL!!!!! really.

Eeeeek, so I actually wore green lenses for like 6 years, lipstickmasala herself can attest to this. although i was lucky that they didnt look outrageous, it wasnt out of a sense of insecurity. Dont ask me why i did it, i dont even know if i could articulate the absurdity in retrospect. POINT BEING, once i STOPPED wearing colored contacts is when i actually started getting complimented on my eyes, go figure!

the point is, I'd say 50/50 makeup fail. to each his own.

but...100% fail if combined with blonde highlights

@ RKJ
ouchhhh did we just hit a weak point there ? Or why else the lashout ?
And are you seriously gonna compare hair colouring to coloured contacts? LOL.coloured contacts give such a stone dead look.

You seem to like the trends in fake&bake o-ville and I am not denying ppl their individuality and enhancing or improving your look but I
personally draw the line at coloured contacts, thas all.I mean have you never heard the expression eyes are the window to the soul ? Dont you greet ,speak or read peoples eyes ?and speaking of beauty and eyes-Havent you heard supermodells like heidi klum or tyra banks say " how the eyes should speak for themselves and to use them to convey your message -be it to the camera or the audience ?"Why is that ? well because eyes speak volumes- the essence of outer beauty ( or maybe even inner -think dalai lamas sparkling eyes ) is in them, why else do countless women/men wanna fake them right ?

And yes nobody is denying that they have insecurities here-i have tons !what matter is how you deal with them-the process of how to grow more comfortable in your own skin- im not saying its an easy process but I think coloured contacts ( if you are a regular user ) is one of those easy ways out to fit into some beauty ideal that one shudnt have to struggle to fit into.

@reimas -I remember you recommending that book to me b4 Ive read it now :) good read.

@ SADIA
DARLING ..your eyes sound absolutly GORJUZ. If half darkgrey with blue rims isnt DIFFERENT then what is ?-the whole desi world would die to have your natural eyes .Huggggs xox
